Ivins 1st Ward 2022 Missionary Plan

This plan will help every member of the Ivins 1st Ward enjoy being a missionary, grow closer to our Savior, and help grow Zion.  Ward missionaries can help in any way possible to accomplish the goals you set.

The plan has four primary focuses:

1-Organization specific missionary goals… Elders, Relief Society, Young Men, Young Women, and Primary

Each organization has a ward missionary assigned to them. They will be working with the leadership in each organization to help you meet your goals.

-Brent Hanks and Ken Peterson- Elders

-Stacy Peterson- Relief Society, Primary

-Craig and Kim Moore- Young Women

-Lonnie and Ellen Hoggard- Young Men

Specific organization goals will be shared through those organizations as they are established each month/quarter.  Weekly the ward missionary council will meet to discuss goals, fulfilling them, and review assignments.  Each organization has a representative assigned to encourage missionary activity.

2- Scheduled Calendar Events

Two scheduled Sunday Sacrament meetings to focus on missionary work in April and October. Ward missionaries and other ward members or new converts will speak.

Missionary lesson taught by ward missionaries in RS, Elders, YMYW, Primary in June.

 Missionary Fireside September.

3- Ward Missionary Event

As a ward, we will give 25 personalized Books of Mormon to neighbors, family and friends.  These will include a picture/testimony from the family giving the book.  Each month on the second Sunday the Elders and RS will have a book to be assigned to a class member.  The following second Sunday of the month a new book will be given and a report on the giving of the previous month’s Book of Mormon.  YMYW will also have an opportunity to accept and give a Book of Mormon every other month.  The YMYW missionary representatives will supervise this activity.

4 -Ward Family Goals

Each ward family should prayerfully consider how they can follow the Love, Share, and Invite direction from the church.  Setting a goal each month can provide us with many missionary experiences.  Families should pray daily asking Heavenly Father to be inspired to follow Love, Share, and Invite and grow Zion by asking for specific guidance.  A list of several possible activities is provided.  It is most important that each month we do something that brings us closer to our Savior through missionary service.  Ward missionaries will meet with ward member families to discuss Love, Share, Invite and what can be done to follow the Prophet’s directive.

The magnitude or impact of each activity should not be a significant criterion of success!  Consistent service and growth are most important.  Please remember that it is difficult to gauge success based upon baptisms or life-changing conversions.  Small spiritual successes will bring wonderful results eventually and strengthen testimonies. Follow the whisperings from the spirit and pursue what your family feels good about.

Possible family missionary activities could include:

  • Pray for the missionaries by name

  • Pray for missionary experiences during each family prayer

  • Invite a non-member to the next ward activity

  • Prayerfully give a Book of Mormon to someone this month

  • Invite a neighbor or non-member friend to dinner or family night activity

  • Invite missionaries over to your home for a message with your family

  • Find one name to take to the temple this month

  • Share about your child’s experiences in Primary with a non-member parent

  • Share about your teenager’s experiences in YM/YW with a non-member parent

  • Invite someone to the temple visitor center with your family

  • Go to the temple visitor center with your family

  • Fast for missionary experiences during this month’s fast

  • Share your testimony with someone

  • Participate with the missionaries in a missionary lesson

  • Talk to someone about a lesson at church

  • Provide a service to someone you know

  • Give a compliment to someone you see

  • Invite someone to the temple to see the Christmas lights and nativity

  • Accept invitation from missionaries to teach a lesson to a non-member in your home

  • Accept invitation from the Temple and Family History Consultants to come to your home and teach about Family Search App

As we help to strengthen Zion in our ward, we will be blessed with opportunities to discuss the gospel of our Savior and come closer to him.  The most important aspect of our missionary plan is for every ward member to increase faith, testimony, and find joy in talking of Christ.
